I got this recipe from my sister. They are simple cookies to make and a little bit more showy than a conventional drop cookie. Also, unlike most cookies, they use only egg yolks (no whites) so they’re a nice complement to something you may be cooking that requires only egg whites. They’re good cookies to make with my young kids because they can get involved unwrapping the foil from the Hershey kisses, counting the number of kisses needed, and placing the kisses on the cookies.
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Chocolate kisses
Directions:
1. Mix butter, sugar, egg yolks, melted chocolate and vanilla. Sift together flour and salt and stir into moist ingredients.
2. Roll dough, 1 tablespoon at a time into balls. Place cookies on greased cookie sheet, 1 1/2 inches apart.
3. Bake cookies for about 12 minutes at 350F, remove from oven and place an unwrapped chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
