Irish Country Bread

Put the following ingredients into a bowl and mix well:

  1. 12 ounces brown flour (whole wheat flour)
  2. 5 ounces white flour
  3. 3 1/2 ounces oat bran
  4. 3 1/2 ounces wheat germ
  5. 3 1/2 ounces porridge oats (steel-cut oats)
  6. 2 1/2 ounces brown sugar
  7. 1 1/2 pints buttermilk
  8. 1 teaspoon salt
  9. 1 tablespoon bread soda (sodium bicarbonate)
  10. 2 eggs

(Optional – decorate with seeds or nuts of choice)

Divide between two 2 pound loaf tins and bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 F
